The other day I was walking home from the supermarket when I heard an unusually loud racket. I was crossing the bridge that goes over the rail lines (I believe it’s the cargo line). It was slightly overcast and my transition lenses made it difficult to make out. But the squawking I was hearing was not typical of pigeons.
I saw a slight tinge of lime green and realized they must be monk parrots–also called monk parakeets or quaker parrots. Lo and behold, I think that they are. If I happen to catch a picture of them myself I will post them, but they’re up so high . . . .
It looks to be a small colony so far, I counted six of them snuggling up against each other on the electric cables. I haven’t spotted their nest yet.
